SWIG 'Early
Career Researcher's Prize'
|
The SWIG 'Early Career Researcher's
Prize' competition will be launched in the spring
of 2012. This poster competition is intended to raise
awareness of technological developments and novel applications related
to water measurements, thereby promoting innovation in sensor research
and commercial application. The competition will be open to
under-graduates and post-graduates in full-time education or
within the first 4 years of employment. It was last run in
2010, with James Shucksmith of the University of
Sheffield taking away the top prize. The 2012 prize winner will
be announced at the WWEM 2012 conference and exhibition (see news item
below).
|
|
|
WWEM is a specialist
event for the water, wastewater and environmental monitoring
community. WWEM 2012 will be held on the 7th & 8th November
in Telford (see WWEM website for details).
SWIG will be working with WWEM in two ways:
·
Short-listed entries to our 'Early Career Researcher's
Prize' will be displayed at the exhibition and we
will announce the prize winner at the WWEM Gala Dinner.
·
We will be hosting an area where academia and industry
can meet to discuss collaborative working.
Watch out for further
announcements in the New Year.

SWIG Membership
Survey for 2012
|
Our last SWIG
membership survey was undertaken in 2010 and resulted in changes to the
events and services offered. For example, members expressed a
desire for a 2-day event and we went on to hold our first 2-day
conference in Nottingham in September of this year (we hope that this
will be a biennial event). Our recent workshop topics
have also taken into account member suggestions and we now
issue regular e-newsletters. We will be repeating our membership
survey in the spring of 2012 and look forward to your feedback and
suggestions.
