The workshop will focus on monitoring the water distribution network for managing water supply and controlling leakage from the network.  Ensuring a safe and reliable supply of drinking water is a key aim for water companies.  Sensors, measurement and control systems play an important part in managing the water in our distribution networks; managing leakage, warning of outages and helping to provide a reluable service to customers.  The workshop will include presentations on new technology and case studies on the successful application of sensing systems and network control systems.

Industrial Effluents: Discharge Monitoring & Environmental Protection

The regulatory control of discharges of industrial effluents is changing with the introduction of Environmental Permits and the extension of operator self-monitoring requirements. The morning session of this Workshop will provide an update by the Environment Agency on these regulatory requirements and an opportunity to hear and discuss the practical ways in which discharges can be monitored. The afternoon session will focus on means to protect, monitor and assess the impact of discharges on the natural environment. The target audience is industrial operators, instrument suppliers, regulators and environmental consultants.
