Welcome to the website for the Sensors for Water Interest Group, SWIG. SWIG's focus is on the use of sensors for measurement and control in water and wastewater treatment processes and in natural waters, such as rivers, lakes, and the marine environment.
SWIG organises Workshops where invited speakers and enthusiastic audiences can debate the practical problems and current challenges in the development and application of sensors to the measurement and control of water.

European Standards for Water Monitoring Equipment SWIG Director, Stuart Newstead, has made significant progress with converting MCERTS Standards to European Standards. Draft standards for automated waste water samplers, on-line analysers and portable analysers were submitted to CEN, the European Standards Organisation, in May 2010. Subject to their final acceptance by CEN, work to develop the standards is expected to start this Autumn. Stuart is looking to establish a supporters club of interested parties.
