Severn Trent: Digital Twins for Smarter Wastewater

Severn Trent is advancing the optimisation of wastewater infrastructure by implementing digital twins across an additional 32 Severn Trent sites and 1 Hafren Dyfrdwy site by 2030. Join us on Thursday, 15th May, to learn about the “first of its kind” digital twin of the Strongford Wastewater Treatment Works and the journey so far.

At Strongford, Severn Trent, in collaboration with partners AtkinsRéalis, Sand Technologies, Siemens, and Xylem, have developed a visualisation, simulation and optimisation tool.  This multifaceted solution has been designed to simulate the different environmental and load impacts on the treatment works to support our operational staff in establishing an optimum way of operating and maintaining it.  By doing so we will be able to reduce process emissions, chemicals, energy consumption and spills without compromising effluent quality.
