Section 82 of the Environment Act requires Water and Wastewater companies to monitor and publish in near real time levels of key determinants within our waterbodies evidencing the impact of our discharging assets upon the environment.

The PR24 and PR29 WINEP objectives clearly outline the desired outcomes of these deliverables along with regulators acknowledgement that measurement of inland complex, estuarine and coastal water bodies will be exceptionally challenging in the form of investigation drivers.

Northumbrian Water (NWL) along with their key partners are delivering Kingfisher a world-first solution in water quality monitoring, building extensive data sets at scale using drones.   Over the past two years, Northumbrian Water (NWL)  have explored an innovative approach to this challenge.
