About the event

Exploring the next generation of sensing, analytical and digital technologies to protect public health through safer water.

Water is fundamental to human health, yet increasing environmental pressures, emerging contaminants, antimicrobial resistance, and evolving public health challenges demand new approaches to monitoring and protection. This one-day workshop will bring together researchers, technology developers with the water sector industry, to explore the critical relationship between water and health. The event will provide an overview of current and emerging biological and chemical risks in water systems, followed by presentations showcasing innovative monitoring and detection technologies. Topics will include advances in technologies such as biosensors, electrochemical and optical sensors, real-time monitoring platforms, microbial detection methods, artificial intelligence and data analytics, and digital solutions for water quality surveillance. The workshop will provide a forum for knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration, helping to identify future research, policy and innovation priorities that can strengthen public health protection through improved sensing technologies for water monitoring.
